Sophia Jane Myles (born 18 March 1980)[1] is an English film and television actress. In 2010, Myles joined Spooks alongside fellow newcomer Max Brown. She played Beth Bailey for the duration of Series 9, after which she left the show to pursue other projects. Her character's absence was explained as her having been decommissioned by the incoming Section D leader, Erin Watts, due to Beth's conduct during the Westhouse operation.

Myles' character, Beth Bailey, was based on a real, unnamed, former MI6 spy who then got rich working in private intelligence. In an interview with The Telegraph newspaper in 2010, before her debut as Bailey, Myles commented on the real-life spy stating “I’ve met her several times and she’s very grounded, very sexy and very, very cool... It’s amazing what a woman of a similar age to me has done with her time.” She was also enthusiastic about playing a character that was not focused on love and romance, as had been common in her previous roles “This is the first time I’ve told a story that doesn’t involve romance.”[2]
